Eric Flint’s 1632 Minicon

Eric Flint's 1632 Minicon at Philcon

Philcon is delighted to welcome the 1632 MiniCon to our 2026 Con!

The 1632 MiniCon brings together fans of Eric Flint’s expansive 1632verse—the hugely popular time-travel/alternate history series—for a kind of con-within-a-con. It features authors who’ve written 1632-based novels and short fiction sharing their thoughts and inside knowledge through programming within our existing literary track and other events.

The 1632 MiniCon grew out of a small gathering in Mannington, WV, the town on which the fictional Grantville of 1632 was based. Since then, MiniCon have been held in connection with larger conventions including Albacon, Chicon, Balticon and others. In 2025, the first full MiniCon since the passing of Eric Flint was held at FenCon.

Authors who’ve appeared frequently at the MiniCon include Bethanne Kim, Bjorn Hasseler, Chuck Gannon, Jack Carroll, Chuck Thompson, and Virginia DeMarce. Check back again to see who is confirmed to attend!

Panel topics will also be announced as Philcon approaches. Two that always appear are the 1632 Book Club, a book club-style chat, and a panel where 1632 readers can suggest what they’d like more (or less) of in future 1632 offerings.
